All American Rejects will rock you in Frogger

November 19th, 2008 by jmarkham

Okay gamers… put your eh, game face on.  Launching today (November 19th)  is NXE (New Xbox Experience) which does all kinds of fun stuff like connect you to your partners in crime, family- who could also be your partners in crime depending on your family- and to one ginormous online entertainment center.  What, prey tell, does this have to do with music, you ask?  Well, to help kick-off NXE, the All American Rejects, Hinder, and others will participate in the fully interactive “Game With Fame” sessions. And basically, “Game With Fame” allows artists and fans to play their favorite games with each other directly.  So get to practicing because you can take on the All American Rejects in Frogger and Rock Band 2 on November 24 in NYC from 6pm to 8pm EST.  GAMERTAG: AAR GWF (*space between AAR and GWF).  And for all of you Hinder junkies… you can take on the boys on November 24th playing Guitar Hero World Tour from 3pm to 5pm CST in Starkville, MS. GAMERTAG: Hinder GWF (*space between Hinder & GWF)

Adele is NOT a Brand. Period.

November 12th, 2008 by jmarkham

Adele says she’s about her music and it’s going to stay that way.  In a recent interview she said, “I’m not going to act, not going to release an autobiography, not going to release a perfume, not going to design a range of clothes. I don’t see the point. It makes you more a celebrity than a singer. I don’t want to be a brand.”  Personally, I think it would be fitting if she would at least endorse a pair of running shoes with all the pavement she’s been chasing.  Seriously.

Maroon 5 Mixes it Up for the Holidays

November 11th, 2008 by jmarkham

It’s like a new spin on an old favorite recipe.  And just what does food have to do with music?  Nothing.  But, since this post has a little something to do with the holiday season I had some personal word association going on in my head.  Sorry.  So, Maroon 5 is mixing it up for you this holiday season by re-releasing some of their old favorites but with a twist.  They’ve invited people to reinterpret their music.  Cool people too- like Mary J. Blige (who takes on “Wake Up Call” with Mark Ronson) and Pharrell Williams (who remixes “She Will Be Loved”). Frontman Adam Levine says, “I’ve always found it really interesting that a group of people looking at the same painting can all see a different thing.  That was the idea behind this record… We were really blown away by what they came up with.” If you’re down with your Maroon 5 having a little urban flavor mixed in, then order up the CD “Call + Response: the Remix Album” due to hit store shelves in December.

Adele Questions Virgins

November 8th, 2008 by jmarkham

Adele has something to say and she’s not mincing words.  She’s calling out the Jonas Brothers and their chastity rings.  You know the Jonas brothers… those 3 guys with the bushy eyebrows and hair that tweens are completely fanatic about.  There was some ribbing about their chastity rings at this years MTV music awards.  Ring a bell?  No?  Seriously?  Okay, just ask your daughter/niece.  Anyway, although Adele says she is one of their biggest fans, she recently told Glamour magazine that there is no way they will have the willpower to say virgins until they get married with so many girls at their disposal.  She said, ” I’m addicted to the Jonas Brothers, but do I think it’s true that they won’t have sex until they are married?  Millions of girls fancy them!  If the Jonas Brothers are virgins- then I’m a man.”  Oh snap!  And BTW- Adele isn’t a man.

Denny’s food will rock you. Well, in theory.

October 31st, 2008 by jmarkham

Normally, eating like a rock star means a little food and a lot of nameless liquids, right?  Well, Denny’s has another idea. They’re updating their menu with the help of some rock acts.  Seriously.  The “Denny’s Rockstar Menu 2″ is bolstered with new creations from Hoobastank, Boys Like Girls, Taking Back Sunday, and Katy Perry (pictured).  Hoobastank is responsible for the Huburrito, a burrito with crispy chicken strips, pepper jack cheese, and onion crispers served with tortilla chips and side sauces.  Boys Like Girls bring forth The Great Eggsteak, which is a roast beef sandwich with scrambled eggs, pepper jack cheese, peppers and onions with spicy mayo on sourdough bread.  Katy Perry serves up the “Hot N Cold,” a dessert treat with layers of cherry topping, vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, and cappuccino.  Meanwhile, Taking Back Sunday provides the Melty Grilled Chicken and Sausage Quesidilla.  Diners can also choose from the encore favorites - The Plain White T’s Plain White Shake and Taking Back Sunday’s Taking Back Bacon Burger Fries.  Great. Now I’m hungry.  Where’s Denny’s?

Maroon 5 bribes you to vote with free music

October 31st, 2008 by jwhite

Maroon 5 would really, really like you to vote:

Hey Everybody,

Maroon 5 just helped put together a free music playlist for you to download and we wanted to let you know about it.

A few weeks ago, they were hanging with a friend when they came up with an idea.

They said:
“Let’s get a bunch of bands together and give away free music to people who pledge to vote.

Then after they pledge, we can send them some information that helps them find out everything they need to know about early voting, absentee voting or just finding their neighborhood polling location.”

We contacted the people at Rock The Vote to help run the project, recruited some very talented artists to give away songs and launched the thing this morning.

In less than one minute, you can get Free Music from Maroon 5, Sara Bareilles, Phantom Planet, Michael Franti, Ry Cuming and more simply by visiting:

http://www.rockthevote.com/pledge

All you have to do is fill out the pledge and then download the music. It’s that easy. Please Rock the Vote. Spread the word to all your friends… Spread the music… Spread the love.

Thank you very much,

Kid Rock is a Giver

October 30th, 2008 by jmarkham

Did you know that Kid Rock has his own clothing line?  I didn’t.  But, apparently he does.  It’s called “Made in Detroit”.  Fitting, no?  (Psst… you looking confused in the back… he’s from Michigan.)  Well, Mr. Rock is a man who clearly is into giving because his clothing company is working with Wayne State University to start a college fund for area music students.  How cool is that?  To kick things off the apparel line will make 2,500 limited edition T-shirts in hopes to raise like, $25,000 from the sale. The “Kid Rock Scholarship” will be available to students studying both the business and performance sides of music.   If you wanna dress like Kid Rock click here.
